5 Thing I Hate About My MicroMinnie.

As you may have read in my previous post, I love my MicroMinnie overall, but there are a few very “nitpicky” things I hate about it. All of these things are fairly easy to fix and will be dealt with in the coming months.

1. The handles

I can’t stand the handles on the drawers and cabinets. On more than one occasion I’ve cut my head courtesy of the two cabinet doors above the sink, along with a slice or two on my legs from the access door to the under-bed storage. They’re very sharp and, although quite nice looking, not exactly ideal. It’s also painfully easy to sort of miss the handle and crunch a finger between the door and counter edge.

2. The Bed

I’m not entirely sure what type of knives this mattress is filled with but it’s terrible. Making something comfortable for everyone is nearly impossible but, I would bet this thing in *uncomfortable* to everyone, and I’ve spent weeks sleeping in backseats of vehicles, hard dirt softened slightly by scavenged pine needles and dead leaves, and I even spent 2 nights on plain old plywood during my first car camper trip. Winnebago really missed the mark on this, but again easily fixed and certainly not a deal breaker.

3. The outdoor shower

This may be the most nit picky thing on the list, but it’s tough coming up with 5 things I actually hate about my camper. This could also very easily be my own fault and I’m just missing something, but it comes with a shower head hanger and nowhere to hang it. There are holes for screws in the hanger but nothing on the camper, mild inconvenience but still worth noting.

4. The lack of inverter

This should be standard equipment with the explorer package, but it’s not, and that is incredibly disappointing. I honestly wasn’t expecting much, but with the onboard solar it would’ve been nice to at least charge my macbook. Fortunately Toyota puts inverters in their vehicles, so I do have a 400W inverter to use whenever I’m off grid.

5. The sound system

The system actually sounds fine and works very well, I just wish it played a bit louder. I use my Ipad all the time to play music while sitting outside and cooking, the outdoor speakers seem to be plenty loud, however the interior setup is always on full volume trying to compete with the fan over the stove.

After reading this list you may think to yourself, “first world problems” or “your life must be so tough”, but I thought it was worth noting the negatives of this camper. I really do love it and I genuinely believe anyone who buys one will too. I bought this beauty during a big move for work, but I have no intentions of going back to a house anytime soon. This camper has helped me get outside more and overall makes me a happier individual. Campers are not for everyone, especially those as small as the MicroMinnie, but for me it’s perfect.
